  Why Reward?


People really respond to recognition.  Almost 40% of people polled in a recent survey published in the June 2002 issue of Incentive Magazine said that frequent recognition of accomplishments is the best way to encourage staff members.  Experts say recognition is most effective when given in public and employees are with their peers.  

What Motivates?
Cash or non-cash rewards?  It is important to have a healthy mix of both cash and non-cash awards.  But you say "cash is king" and "money talks".  True, however keep in mind that most cash awards are used to pay bills and quite often forgotten once the bill is paid.  Non-cash awards on the other hand remind one of a weekend away to a resort or that new DVD player the family enjoys.
